Overnight Host




  • Friendly, Respectful, Caring, Good Listener, Understanding, Supportive but not nosy, Positive

  • Attended RAIHN Training




  • Secure the building for the night

  • Watch for latecomers (coming back from work from late shifts, for example)

  • Encourage the guests to be settled down by ‘lights out’ time

  • Be ready to deal with overnight situations: help the guests clean up after a sick child, resolve a smoke alarm, etc.

  • Hang out with the guests

  • Allow the guests their own space/privacy

  • Make sure the guests have what they need

  • Sleep

  • Set up continental breakfast, make coffee

  • Make sure the guests are ready for bus pickup (~ 7:00 am)

  • Secure the building for the day




  • OVERNIGHT: 9:00 pm – 7:30 am

  • Bring a sleeping bag and pillow

  • Two hosts on duty, may share Scott’s office or one may move to the guest lounge to sleep
