Come dive into the Bible using ancient practices of lectio divina reading and yoga. Bible excerpts will touch on the stories of women in the Old Testament: Eve, Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah - women who were closely connected to forefathers of the Christian faith (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob).
We will meet on Mondays, 6:30-8:30 PM, starting July 9. We plan to meet at Cobbs Hill Park, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, we will meet at the church.
Over the course of six weeks, we will experience Scripture through the lectio divina approach and elements of yoga practice. Participants will be given a chapter from Stephen J. Bintz’s book, Women of the Torah, to experience on their own time during the week. Each Monday gathering will include an opening prayer, reflections from the past week’s reading, and a group lectio divina experience with yoga practice woven throughout.
Each individual is asked to bring a yoga mat, or large towel, and a water bottle. Extra props such as yoga blocks, straps, and blankets for additional cushioning are welcome.
